Working for the Weekend?

So on Friday I had my first full day off in a while and thankfully I didn't let it go to waste. I weeded, I planted, I played with the neighbors puppy, I hung up our wedding pictures (finally) with frames I had just gotten on sale at Target (good deal), I finished reupholstering the chair I started quite a while ago (it really didn't take very long after all), I cleaned some bathrooms, Shawn and I saw Get Smart, went to the Olive Garden with George and April, and then we just relaxed with some ice cream cones on our front porch.

It was a good day and it felt really good to get all those things checked off of my list. This chair isn't much but it was an old office chair that Shawn's roommate left and Shawn wanted to throw it away but I thought it would be a fun project. Now it sits in our living room. Not where it's shown of course, but I was just trying to show the new wedding photoed frames in the same pic as the chair. See, I'm going green.

On Saturday we went to the Lavender Days Festival in Mona, Utah. There was quite a lot to do there and we scored some free tickets to go to it. We actually had 5 free tickets but after calling at least 5 different groups of people and receiving no yeses we went by ourselves. In this picture Shawn and I are enjoying a jousting competition Shawn is sitting right next to the King (we were in the "Royal Box" as it were). We had lavender flavored lemonade, festival food and some sun as you can tell by Shawn's hair. I think he looks a little sweaty. Alas the fun had to end so that I could get to work. 2 days off in a row? Unheard of. Except this week when we go camping from Thursday-Sunday, I'm sure there will be a post to follow that!

Day 3 of the Runs

I haven't had a solid BM in 3 days. Any suggestions? I'm sure you're all glad to see I chose not to add a picture to this post.

Cool Tag

Rules of this Tag:
1. Answer the questions about the list of friends and/or family on your blog.
2. If you don’t have 18 names answer the question about the next name that you have not had a question for on your list.
3. Tag 5 people.

When did you first meet the first person on your list?
Adrianna- In a BYU ward, she started to hang out with my then boyfriend's roomates and their friend Tony.

What do you like about the third person on your list's blog?
Anja-She always asks people's opinions on things, for advice and stuff which I think is pretty cool.

What do you like best about the fifth and sixth people on your list?
The Beckie's, Beckie C. is a good friend, loyal and not drama. Beckie V. is very good at keeping in contact with people, which I am not, so I guess you could say she's very good at long term friendships.

How long have you known the ninth person on your list?
Elizabeth- Pretty much as long as I can remember, probably longer.

What impresses you about the eleventh and twelfth people on your list?
Kathleen- my sister-in-law who I've never met is very friendly and sweet to me.
Kimberly- is always upbeat and fun and excited and I really miss her being close by.

What is a memory you have with the sixteenth person on your list?
Maria- probably my biggest memory with Maria is our trip to Jackson Hole. Just sitting in the park and playing truth or truth...that girl's got secrets. Ha ha, jk.

Say something nice about the eighteenth person on your list.
Mason is a very smart and sensative boy, I just wish he'd write on his blog again.

Timber!

I had to work for a 2 hour shift in our Membership sales booth at work on Saturday. Each department had to fill a shift so I volunteered to do ours myself because then Shawn and I could stay for a little while after and watch the Stihl Timbersports event. It was pretty cool to watch those guys, seriously, they take down those tree trunks in seconds. They also had a lot of vendors including "Pennyslvania Dutch Funnel Cakes."

Of course I was THRILLED! We shot at targets and there were even wild bird displays, I don't really know why. I guess it was all just outdoorsy stuff. That is Shawn with a living owl. The guy told me I wouldn't be able to get the owl to look but I showed him!

I took a few pictures of Shawn and me that day and this is the only one I'm willing to post. (I forgot to zoom out after taking pictures of the timber men) I don't know why I am so very un-photogenic these days, I think I just really need a tan which is difficult when the high for today is supposed to be 61.

Funny Easton

We spent their last Utah night of the summer with Joel's family and Easton was climbing all over Uncle Shawn which promted his mother to ask:

Kim: How much do you like your Uncle Shawn?

Easton: Um, 5.

End of story. She asked a question, he gave an answer.

3 Day Weekend

Shawn and I both had a 3 day weekend and it was pretty nice.

I started out gardening in a tank top to get some sun. I didn't think that I was out there that long. I was wrong. I suffered the rest of the weekend. Excuse the pornographic shot, but it was bad.

Saturday was Shawn's birthday. He turned 34...seems to me he should start having kids while he can. Am I right or am I right? In the morning I made us French Toast and Shawn opened his presents. Then we went back to bed. Then we got ready for the day and went down to the Joel Sechrist's where we had a wonderful McDonald's lunch (don't judge me it's Shawn's favorite restaurant.) And we had birthday cake with them, another Shawn request...Chocolate cake from Costco. It really is so freaking good. And we'll probably go see them again tonight one last time before they wisk their kids away to the other side of the world.

After that we went to see Shawn's sister and her son and their cats. Holy crap do they have cats. I forgot to take a picture at their house which is a shame because Kaden sure loves his Uncle Shawn. We lucked out in pawning off the rest of the chocolate cake to them and then we headed home for Shawn to draw guilt free and I started to work on the chair I'm redoing.

I had one last birthday suprize for him, his favorite casserol that his mom makes. I called her and got the recipe and then sent him to the store to pick up some soda so I could make us an outdoor table setting with candles. The soda was for the mojitos I made, I thought they were pretty fun. Why do drinks seem so fancy when they have fruit and leaves floating in them?

I don't think he really cares about candles...espcially since it's light outside until practically 10 oclock these days but I thought they were fun.

Overall I think he had a good birthday and we just had a nice relaxing weekend.
